Putnam County Housing Corporation (PCHC) was incorporated in 1982 with a mission to provide safe, decent and affordable housing for every Putnam County resident. A Rural Preservation Company since 1983, PCHC developed a comprehensive housing plan in response to the county's diverse housing needs; securing and leveraging over $110,000,000 in funding in the last 15 years.
It's program and activities include:
1. Developing and managing 120 units of senior housing
2. In partnership with a for-profit developer developing another 137 senior units
3. As a HUD certified Housing Counseling agency, PCHC has been at the forefront of the foreclosure crisis administering the Home Ownership Protection Program (HOPP) with funding from the New York State Attorney General and the Bank of America and a National Foreclosure Mitigation Program.
4. Local administrator of 540 HUD Housing Choice vouchers serving the county with a Family Self Sufficiency component
5. Currently, administering a New York State Affordable Housing Corporation funded Home Improvement Program
6. Administering a Local Home Program Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA)program for residents with disabilities.
7. Developed, owns and manages 11 units of transitional and permanent housing for the homeless

Weatherization assistance providers can assist eligible homeowners and owners of rental properties with measures to improve energy efficiency, including:
Weatherization Services may also include other energy-related improvements such as: water heater repair/replacement, lighting fixture replacement, venting systems, refrigerator replacement, and certain electrical service work.
Weatherization services are available to income-eligible (60% of State median income) individuals who may be either homeowners or renters living in a single-family home, a manufactured/mobile home, or an apartment.
